   An Umbreon's Story- Chapter 1

Dream of Destiny

Ly was haunted by dreams that night. He woke up, short of breath but couldn't remember anything from them. All there was was fire.         It's been 15 years since Ly had last seen his parents. He couldn't remember the day well but he knew that is mom had been killed and his dad had been seperated from him, possibly dead at that. The thought of them dying always replayed itself in the Umbreon's mind. When they got seperated, Ly had fled into a forest he didn't reconize, ShadowShine Woods, home of the dark type Pokemon. Back then, Lights was scared and weak but he managed to live in a den, a space wedged in between 2 large rocks to be cave like. It was a good house, something that could fit 5 or more Pokemon. Lights had decided to change. He decided that he wasn't going to be weak any more. He started to call himself Ly. He had friends, most loners like him though, to keep him company. Ly had evolved about a moon ago, a strong Umbreon with golden rings and golden eyes. Ly often turned shiny though, and no matter how much he wished he didn't, his blue rings and silver body would always appear. Ly was the kind that hated attention being drawn to him. He was more of the calm type; he hated crowds and found solitary in his best interest.                                                                                                                  "Come on Ly! Wake up, sleepyhead!" The Umbreon rose up groggily, sleep still in his eyes and clouding his vision. He yawned and peeked his head outside to see who wanted to see him so early. The figure standing before him was a female Leafeon, a cute little smile plastered onto her face. (Not all the pokemon were dark, but most were.) She was smaller than him, a tiny little leaf pokemon, only evolved a few days ago when she had found a leaf stone.
Morning sunlight weaved into Ly's den and illuminated the Eeveelution's features. Ly squinted, trying to avoid the sunlight that blinded his face. Her brown almond eyes inspected him for a moments before she made a thoughtful noise and bounded outside with yelp of cheer. The sunlight was thick; the early summer day was already starting to get hotter by the second. Ly was more of a winter person but he hated to get the exited Leafeon down with his complaints.
"Geeze, Ayanna, why do you have to get up so early?" The Umbreon asked, stretching his paws and sighing at his energetic friend, trying to get the blood pumping in him again. He noticed the string of silver still tied around his paw, but tried to forget the wave of memories that came with it. "Is, Kiera and Rell coming?" he asked, yawning again.
"I told them they should come!" The Leafeon said as she looked back up at the sun, her creamy "Isn't it beautiful?" Ly came outside to join her but didn't share her enthusiasum.
"To be totally honest, I'm more of a night person." He joked, making his friend snicker.              "Hey, guys!" A voice called out to them, laced with joy.
"Hi, Kiera!" Ayanna called out, refering to the Poochyena that was coming their way. "Where's Rell?"
"Here." The Umbreon replied, yawning and still trying to recover from his lack of sleep. Ly shared his pain. Sure, the sunlight felt good on his fur, but the moonlight felt even better. It refreshed him and he was able to heal with ease. He wasn't sure if it was because of his type of because he simply loved to look at the moon, dancing with the stars in the sky in the sky.
Ayanna joked, "Guess someone didn't get a good night sleep!" She laughed and ran around him in circles as if she was bragging about her stock of energy. Ly snickered.
Rell blinked his eyes and sighed. "I stayed up all night, preparing for my journey." He explained. She shuffled his paws and lay down, closing one of his eyes but keeping the other on his group of friends.
"What journey?" Kiera asked nervousley. She was more of the soft type, emotional to anything that could effect her. The thought of her friend leaving made her heart shrivle. "I don't want you to leave!" She cried as she ran up to hug the Umbreon.
Rell shrugged. "Yep. I'm old enough to start my adventure now. That's what my parents told me. They said I should go into new parts of ShadowShine Woods and find a mate and stuff. I'm not sure if I should feel exited or what." He honestly looked confused, his conflicting emotions causing him trouble. He sighed and closed his eyes again. A breeze blew by, ruffleling all of their fur.
Ly looked at Rell and realized how old they were all getting. Rell was only a tad older than Ly although Rell was larger and muscular, making him look much older than he really was. Ly was smaller and his body was more for speed and defense, rather than attack. The thought of loosing his friend made Ly's heart sink. A wave of sadness hit him. "You don't look exited." Ayanna joked again. She nudged her Umbreon friend and he smiled at her although his eyes were still closed. "I hope you have fun on you adventure! When are you leaving?"
"Today, at night." Rell replied. "When the traveling is better." He gave a sad smile and looked up at the group of misfits. "I'm gonna miss you guys."
"Hey, shouldn't all of us get going on our adventures too? I mean we could go whenever we want since we don't have parents," Ly stated. "Even though we're still trapped in ShadowShine we can have a little more freedom."
Ayanna nodded. "I know. But still, we can't go out of the territories we were born in. I was born here and pokemon still bug me for being a grass type!" The Leafeon kicked a rock around, her happiness changing to anger. She may be a little bipolar but Ly still liked her. "It really sucks that we can't see other pokemon besides dark types."
Ly had to agree with that. He hadn't, and would proboally never get out of ShadowShine Woods. It gave him a trapped sort of feeling, but he had to remind himself that there was nothing he could do to change that. Each 'Guardian' chosen over to watch their territories' Pokemon had to make sure there was border patrol so no one could escape. Kiera thought they were trying to protect them but Ly saw it the opposite. Trapped.
"We should  make the most of it, while you're still here Rell!" The Leafeon said, giving him a wide smile. Ly envied her attitude. The Leafeon was always hyper and had to be moving every second of the day. She was always the one to cheer pokemon up, even the ones she didn't know. Ly couldn't help but admire her for that. He was more of the silent one, always there to think things through although his short temper could get the best of him. Ayanna joked to him once about him being bipolar even though Ly often though her as that way.
"I can't believe you're leaving!" The Poochyena cried, embracing her dark type friend in a hug. She was also the youngest out of all of them. (Her name actually meant 'little black one') Rell was surprised but hugged her back and smiled. The 4 best friends played all morning, but at sun high, Rell had to leave to prepare for his trip. His departure was depressing for the 3 left. They had all grown up together, and gotten really close in that short time, mostly since 3 out 4 of them didn't have parents to comfort them. Ly remebered when he was just an Eevee and Ayanna had found him, eating berries by a bush he managed to find. They had played and became close friends. Ayanna didn't have a family either; she never knew her dad, her brother was too old for her to remember, and her mom died of sickness. They had promised each other to stick together. They had found Rell a few days after and he became an aquantience too. Kiera was just a puppy when they found her, lying scared in some bushes. Ayanna had asked around for 2 days to find out if anyone knew where she had come from, but no one had, so the Leafeon took her in and gave her a name. Ayanna named herself. It literally meant, 'beautiful flower.'
Ly sighed as the sun beat fiercly overhead. "I'm hungry so I'm gonna look for some food." The Umbreon said to the Eeveelution and to the Poochyena. He hoped he would be able to get sleep too.  Kiera yawned. "I wanna go back to bed. Ayanna made me wake up early."
"I had to drag you out of bed! Even after I left you for a while it took you like 5 minuts to get here!" Ayanna retorted with an angry face.
Kiera giggled and pawed her friend's leaf like ears making the Leafeon snicker with a grin. Then she turned to the Umbreon. "See ya laters, Lighties!" She laughed as she used her nickname for him. Ly nodded and was on his way. He perfered hunting more than berry searching so he began to search for prey. He had a fast meal, and even after that he just sat there, lying in the harsh summer sun while it warmed his ebony pelt. He couldn't help but feel that he should be leaving like Rell. Life seemed to drag on each day in a long endless cycle that seemed to have no meaning. In the winter the group was often starving, even Rell who had a family to take care of him.
The Umbreon yawned, still pondering his thoughts when he drifted off to a comfortable sleep. "You have to protect her."
"Hu?" Ly asked. He couldn't see anything, he felt nothing. It was like he was made of all darkness, but yet he was able to respond. This was how it was when he often dreamed. He sometimes had daytime visions, of things that occured in the future, but nothing big. "Who are you?" The Umbreon asked fiercly. His voice sounded somewhat disortet.
"You'll find out soon. But you have to protect her." The voice was unnatural as if it was made of everything at once. Ly simply could not discribe it. This vision was like nothing he had ever expirienced.
"Protect who? And how soon?" Ly asked.
"Question don't always come with answers, even though answers usualy come with questions." The voice replied. "You have to protect her."
"Who?!" Ly demanded. His first thought was that the voice meant Ayanna, but she wasn't in any danger. What could she need protected from? Was it even talking about her? Ly shook his head. "Tell me who! Ayanna?"
"We know not of whom you speak of." The voice said.
"We?" Ly asked. Who were they?!
"Ly, you have a great destiny. You must find the other 2."
"How do you know my name?!" The Umbreon demanded. His question list seemed to be growing with each passing second. "Who are you talking about? If not Ayanna? She's the only one I know!" And then he added, "And why should I trust you? You won't tell me your names!"
"We can't. Time in running out." Suddenly there was an echo as if several voices were joining in. It was at least 2, mabey even up to 5 voices. They were all blended together. "Time..Time...Time..Stop..him...before...time...runs out...."
"Whose him!?" Ly said, desperate. He was getting no where with this. "Why?! Tell me one good reason why I should trust you!" The echoing stopped.
"Because you have willpower. Let no one control who you are." Ly woke up, panting and sweating. He looked around if he might see the strange voices hiding somewhere, waiting to pop out at him. This was like nothing he had experienced before. Usually visions had color and Ly was in them, although he was more like a ghost, going through moments of the future. Although Umbreon's are dark types, they had a few phychic powers that are similar to those of an Espeon, allowing them to speak telapathicaly, and some can even read mind. Ly's head was booming, it felt like his skull was beginning to crack and splinter open. The moonlight Pokemon stiffled a scream. The same sentences were being repeated over and over. Help us. Protect her. Help us. Protect her.
Ly shook his head as if the sound would go away and thankfully, it did. He gritted his teeth and sighed, unable to process the strange dream. Was it even real? Was it his imagination? Ly was smart and could usually decode the strange dreams he had before, but this seemed fake, something that wasn't supposed to be meant for him. Why would it be meant for him? Why would it be for someone that had no family? Nothing? Ly wasn't rich and had no power, unlike the Guardians. And willpower? Ly shook his head again. His mind must be playing tricks on him.
The Umbreon began walking through the pines of the farmilliar forest until he got to a lake, where he began to drink. He could see the fish like Pokemon hiding in the reeds beneath it. Ly stared at his reflection in the water. He wasn't tall. He wasn't big and muscular like Rell. His body more looked like a Jolteon's, built for speed. Of course this didn't change the fact that Ly's defense stat was extremely high. Especially since he had Moonlight, a healing move, he had become mostly invincible. He could remember the training days with his dad sometimes, the way he would tell him to find the Pokemon's weak spot. To examine everything. To watch and learn. To use speed to your advantage.
Stamina didn't matter as long as you could use special attacks and healing moves. The wound up silver band was still wrapped around his paw, the one his dad used to use as a neclace.
Ly sighed and abandon the lake, completely unaware of the glowing scarlet eyes hidden in the bushes. "He's the one, sir?" a figure asked quietly, once the Umbreon was gone.
The dominant one nodded. "He's the one. The one with the golden eyes, Master said." His voice was stiff, deep and determined.
"Should we go after him?" The female Liepard asked. She extended her claws. There was more of her kind waiting back at the Guardian's temple.
"No. Not yet." And with that the Pokemon slunk back into the shadows with his guard.

Ly returned to his friends to say goodbeye, as they went in for the night. Ayanna returned home with Kiera, leaving the moonlight Pokemon alone. The Umbreon watched their shadows ago and crept back to his den, silent and as careful as a mouse. Through the entrance, moonlight was flooding in like rain, making Ly's rings glow a vibrant blue. His body was silver, but his eyes remained golden. He didn't know why this happened. It wasn't a night thing; he had turned shiny in the day too. He assumed it was a mood thing; whenever he was happy or affectionate he would turn shiny. The shinies weren't hated. They were actually charished for their rarity and often worked for the Guardian. Ly however had no such intentions though. The Guardian was an Absol, Lord Nightmare, they had to refer to him by. The Umbreon was always able to avoid them because he was half shiny. Ly lay his head down, to sleep, when a feminine ear splitting scream broke the nightly air around him. 2 words were in his mind as his golden eyes opened, brighter than ever. Protect her.

I was listening to Never Ending Dream by cascada when I thought of this. When they said 'you have willpower,' can you guess who the voices in the dream were?' :>

This is 15 years in the future from the prolouge. I think I forgot to mention that. Anyway this is about Ly's strange dream and the pokemon in the dream (if u can figure them out) are really important to the story and plot. This was a boring chapter but I promise the next one will have a battle or sumthing in it.

This is for fun, but at least it's longer than the prolouge. I actually wrote this a while ago and then went back and edited it. Oh and BTW, Ayanna is really important to the story. Rell and Keira not so much. You have to remember Ayanna. She'll cum back in later chapters.

please don't nag me on spelling. I'm definatly a terrible speller. (I think I spelled definatly wrong....) :) :) :)

All the character is the story belong to me.

Pokemon belongs to whoever created pokemon. The Japanese government....? (Nintedo/GameFreak.

please let me know if u want to be a character!!! I have plenty of room for new people.

Comment please! Even if u don't like it.....
